The Training

Good Practise – the experience of baby and post-natal yoga. Distinguishing the key elements of ZenMuma baby yoga. Understanding the relationship with health care professionals and considering what best advice and practise is. Seeing holistic issues in early mothering and learning how to manage them carefully and professionally.

Teaching methodology and Structure – the building blocks of every class. Specialising yoga to the needs of postnatal women and their babies, including practise and specific yoga techniques. Teaching the full range of yoga asanas appropriate for postnatal health, teaching yoga moves appropriate for babies and explaining the developmental benefits. Including a downloadable manual of postnatal and baby yoga postures and moves, and when they should be used. Techniques include: alignment for the postnatal mum, how to practise baby yoga techniques safely, how to guide into mindfulness and relaxation.

Anatomy and physiology – teaching a safe class. A discovery of the postnatal body, and the individual baby’s needs.  Development, adaptations and contraindications. For mums this includes guidance on core, back, and pelvic floor. For baby we give you guidance on helping to develop natural strength and development of physiological needs, safely and effectively.  Our content is written with editorial by our specialist physiotherapy expert.

Encouraging Bonding – understanding the balance of positive teaching when it comes to a new mum’s relationship with their baby. Being aware of special circumstances after birthing and being mindful to teach inclusion. Teaching baby massage techniques and pranayama for keeping calm in day-to-day life.

Yoga philosophy, lifestyle, ethics and bringing the WOW to your class – What it means to be a new mum. What it means to be a new baby! How we can hold the space of new mums at a time when there is a whirlwind of emotional and physical support needed. We encourage our community of mums gently, with supportive emphasis. We teach messages of self-care, and self-kindness. Through the encouragement of our teaching we offer and share ideas on mindful, confident, conscious parenting.
